Shane grew up in Australia’s art capital, Melbourne Victoria, in an artistic environment surrounded by several family members who loved painting. During the 1980’s after finishing school, Shane studied graphic design for two years and then completed a Certificate of Applied Art course at the renowned Prahran Collage of Art and Design. Upon completion he took part in a successful exhibition in South Melbourne, from which he was offered a position as graphic designer and illustrator for a leading advertising agency.

After a few years as a graphic artist, Shane had itchy feet and decided to travel the world. Upon returning to Australia after several years, Shane’s career took an exciting and successful turn into a gaming and technology business venture, but it was away from the art world he loved and knew so well. During this era spanning ten years or so, painting and all kinds of art really took a back seat, although he would always be dabbling and sketching away during any free time. After the sale of the business, the travel and art bug re-emerged as he had the freedom to travel and paint at the same time and this was when the real passion for painting with a semi traditional and semi colourist style really began.

Shane uses an extremely selective palette of high quality Matisse acrylic paints, he loves the richness and texture of these paints and each painting is finished with a coat of Winsor and Newton varnish. His paintings span a range of striking and engaging styles, from beautiful women to whimsical and witty surrealist images.

The response and sales of his latest artwork has been very impressive and his exhibitions have proven very popular. With so many people now enjoying Shane’s work on their walls, painting remains at the forefront of his mind and fuels his desire to continue producing new and interesting pieces.
